On the evening of June 18, the local community of mountain bikers gathered on the Lake Mercier beach to watch the outdoor screen projection of two mountain bike films. Feet directly in the sand, everyone could appreciate the sunset and viewing!

The entry fee of $ 5 allowed Vélo Mont-Tremblant to show the new production from Anthill Films: Not two bad. This was followed by their first feature: Not Bad, produced in 2013. The snacks and refreshments served on site, with beer sponsored by BORÉAL, helped raise the funds to rent the necessary equipment for the projection at EMOSON.

The extra money raised that evening will go directly to maintaining the trails, allowing riders to enjoy their experience every time they go!

The 101 people present were unanimous: “We must do this type of event more often! ”

So be on the lookout for our upcoming events as Vélo Mont-Tremblant is planning another movie night for the community before the end of summer!

On Sunday June 19, 91 women ages 22 to 57 joined us at the Grand Lodge for the second edition of the « Poules qui Roulent » workshop, a day dedicated to women mountain bikers of all levels. 9 instructors were present to help groups, adapted to the participant’s level, develop skills and improve in a safe environment and an energizing and stimulating atmosphere!

Through partnerships with Jo Vélo, Bob Cyclo, Cybercycle and the SMT bike shop, among others, who lent bicycles, many girls had the opportunity to try mountain biking for the first time.

The day started off with an elementary mechanics course, where things like the basics to check before a ride and the right way to clean a bike when you get back were presented by mechanics. The morning then continued with skill development workshops as the certified instructors worked to perfect certain riding techniques. After a healthy lunch break, it was time to head out and explore the trails in order to put the new skills to the test. The day ended on the shores of Lake Ouimet with a muscle relaxing yoga session followed by a happy-hour to forge new friendships.

“A perfect day surrounded by really motivated girls who encouraged each other to excel and an outstanding coach who took the time to give us confidence. It was really wonderful to see so many girls of all levels come together and be inspired to learn and improve in a setting of discovery and not competition. I loved my experience and I look forward to next year! “- Ariane Lavigne, participant

Big thanks go out to our partners: Jo Vélo, Bob Cyclo, Cybercycle, the SMT shops, Le Grand Lodge, Dakine, Lolë Tremblant, Bell, Finish Line, Cafeo, Émoson and Atelier mécanique Lucie Lamy, without who this day would not have been possible.

On a chilly Sunday June 13, more than 100 children from Mont-Tremblant, the Laurentians, Outaouais and greater Montreal areas, braved the weather to come together for a memorable day of mountain biking.

This 6th edition of the event was organized early in the season in order to encourage children of all ages to learn new mountain bike skills they could use throughout the summer.

The Grand Lodge was a perfect spot to meet up in order to accommodate the maximum number of children in a safe environment. It was also a great choice for its proximity to the “Émi-quilibre” area that offers a short loop for beginners with learning modules of various difficulties.

It is within an energizing and stimulating environment that the children got to play outdoors while either practicing a new sport or improving their skills. 8 workshops were led by volunteer coaches offering different challenges to the young riders, which helped to develop skills and also allowed the youngsters to discover the pine forest area between the tourist office and the Grand Lodge.

The nearly thirty teenagers got to put into practice their new techniques by venturing out a bit further along the trails, just off of where they were taught by certified instructors.

“The goal is that the children have fun while mountain biking, make new friends, and discover a new playground that they will want to come back to with their friends and family.”

– Francis Lapointe, Vélo Mont-Tremblant President.
