They braved the cold for the love of biking
On a chilly Sunday June 13, more than 100 children from Mont-Tremblant, the Laurentians, Outaouais and greater Montreal areas, braved the weather to come together for a memorable day of mountain biking.
This 6th edition of the event was organized early in the season in order to encourage children of all ages to learn new mountain bike skills they could use throughout the summer.
The Grand Lodge was a perfect spot to meet up in order to accommodate the maximum number of children in a safe environment. It was also a great choice for its proximity to the “Émi-quilibre” area that offers a short loop for beginners with learning modules of various difficulties.
It is within an energizing and stimulating environment that the children got to play outdoors while either practicing a new sport or improving their skills. 8 workshops were led by volunteer coaches offering different challenges to the young riders, which helped to develop skills and also allowed the youngsters to discover the pine forest area between the tourist office and the Grand Lodge.
The nearly thirty teenagers got to put into practice their new techniques by venturing out a bit further along the trails, just off of where they were taught by certified instructors.
“The goal is that the children have fun while mountain biking, make new friends, and discover a new playground that they will want to come back to with their friends and family.”
– Francis Lapointe, Vélo Mont-Tremblant President.
