Vélo Mont-Tremblant shatters a record!

Vélo Mont-Tremblant is extremely happy to have welcomed 219 children during the Take a Kid Mountain Biking event presented by L&P taking place on a sunny Sunday, June 3, 2018. Now in its eighth edition, the day’s activities went off smoothly and were created for children of all ages and their parents. The objectives were to introduce youth to the basics of mountain biking, increase comfort on the trails, improve technical skill and inspire them to be active while having fun in a safe environment. For this edition, five new stages were added in the “Émi” equilibrium learning zone located in the Grand Lodge Mont-Tremblant pine forest.

The morning’s agenda was geared towards children aged 2 to 7 with a ‘self-serve’ formula allowing families to arrive at their leisure. After collecting participation plates and exclusive Vélo Mont-Tremblant caps offered by L&P Apparel, parents accompanied their children on the trails. Nine different workshops were offered along a loop that ran through the “Émi” area and the Labyrinth trail. At each stop, the children were led by enthusiastic instructors who made sure to explain each part of the game. The stages focused on developing foundational skills such as bike control, braking, position change, etc. Challenges included a slalom of suspended pool noodles, climbing and descending, counting pedals while rolling, etc. Children received a sticker for each challenge that they could collect on their bike plates.

For lunch, all participants, parents, volunteers, etc. got together for a great picnic at the Grand Lodge barn.

In the afternoon, it was the turn of 8 to 16 years to get rolling. 75 youth accompanied by 10 certified instructors and 7 chaperons explored various trails adapted to their level of expertise. In addition, new this year, twenty parents gathered for an outing accompanied by ambassadors.

Activities were accessible to all. A huge thank you to Station Mont Tremblant, Cybercycle and Bicycle Quillicot, who organized free rental bikes for a dozen children in attendance.

“We had a great family day with the Vélo Mont-Tremblant team, with activities that spoke to toddlers and parents alike. A great organization, a welcoming atmorsphere and smooth running workshops and lunch. The workshops were motivating and very well thought out. The instructors were passionate, with lots of smiles and high-fives! My boy does not want to take off his new bike cap, what a beautiful memory! See you next year! ” – Jessica Bérard, 3 year-old Axell’s mom.

A big thank you to our many partners: Ville de Mont-Tremblant, L&P Apparel, Tremblant, Quillicot Bicycles, Cybercycle, Rouge Marketing, Trees Mountain Apparel, The Grand Lodge, The Soul of Sport, MEC, Dakine, Emoson, RONA Forget, Laverdure Construction Group, IGA Tellier , Maître des sentiers, Enviroforet, Stance, David’s Tea and Le Fluid Juice Bar.
